Mission of Fire Service Photography



My goal is to create images that educate and stimulate.



Mission Statement of Fire Service Photography:

To serve the fire service by taking and producing quality images to document emergencies, training, and social events.

To work in a safe and prudent manner as to not interfere with the operations of an emergency scene.

To provide images that will further the educational process of emergency responders.

To help provide recognition to emergency responders within their communities and by their peers.

To educate the public as to the trust and pride they should have in their emergency workers who serve them.

To provide, when requested images to assist in the investigation of the emergency and to further assist in the prevention of same.

To provide images and assistance to fire departments and directly involved emergency responders free of charge.

Efforts will be made to keep private information private, however particularly photographs and videos taken of persons, places, and events in public places maybe utilized as the law allows.

Fire Service Photography is a project by Ed Harvey. Ed is a second generation firefighter with over 30 years of experience. Ed has a deep affection for the fire service, it's traditions, and history. This strong connection with the fire service is exhibited in his photography and photojournalism.



Ed’s photos have been published in the local news media and widely in a variety of fire service trade publications. Additionally Ed uses and shares his images in fire service training classes and via social media.


As of Jan. 2022 Ed has retired from active firefighting.​
